Help Us Grow!
At Addison Housing Works, our communities are about more than just affordable housing, they are places where people can put down roots and grow.
One way we bring this vision to life is through our Community Gardens program, led by our dedicated family support staff, Precious and Kaio. Each growing season, residents across eleven AHW properties come together to cultivate gardens that nourish more than just fresh produce.
For many, especially those living on fixed or limited incomes, access to fresh, healthy food can be a challenge. The shared gardens allow residents to grow their own produce and flowers, while building community. Neighbors garden side by side, share knowledge and plants, and often pass along extra produce to one another.
For many of our senior residents, the gardens also offer a place of purpose, connection, and physical health. Consider Joyce, a formerly homeless resident with a lifelong passion for gardening. After more than 15 years without a space to grow, Joyce now maintains two garden beds at her AHW home. She has become a leader in her community’s gardens, bringing a newfound vibrancy to the Vergennes neighborhood.
This is what growth looks like at Addison Housing Works.
When you support AHW, you’re doing more than helping provide housing, you’re helping cultivate lively, connected communities where people can thrive. This spring, we invite you to help us grow. Much like a seed in a garden, through AHW your gift will be an investment into the future of our local communities, one house and garden at a time.
